Ernst Salomon and his brother-in-law Max Hirsch founded the company in a garage and made acrylic display cases to compliment products at Ernst’s job as a Fuller Brush salesman. They named the company Sama, which is an acronym for their names. Eventually they outgrew the garage and started a small factory in Union City, NJ.
  • 1978 - 1979

When Ernst and Max retired, they sold the company to Marty & Gail Wolfberg. The new owners created a 100-page catalog of retail accessory items and developed a nationwide network of local distributors that carried Sama’s products marketed them under their own name. Sama expanded into a 12,000 square foot space and landed its first major national account. Sama started designing and developing displays for AT&T’s new Princess Phone and shortly thereafter became the company’s exclusive acrylic vendor nationwide, eventually winning the coveted Partners in Progress award.
  • 1984

With business booming, Sama moved again into a new 34,000 square foot facility in Carlstadt, NJ. Sama was one of the first plastic fabrication facilities to have both a CNC panel saw and CNC router in the industry.
  • 1993

Mark Wolfberg joined Sama and lead the company in expanding its offerings to include wood, metal, lighting and other materials.
  • 1999

In order to meet growing customer demand for fixturing and solutions made with materials other than acrylic, Sama Wood LLC was founded. National chain retailers received turn-key solutions from design through installation and appreciated Sama’s one-stop-shop formula and commitment to providing unparalleled service.
  • 2007

Sama moved to its current headquarters in Cedar Grove, NJ, with just over 100,000 square feet of manufacturing and warehouse space, and five pieces of brand new CNC equipment. Sama’s improved supply chain and in-house manufacturing processes continued to deliver on some of the fastest and most reliable lead-times in the industry.
  • 2009

Sama has worked with brands in nearly every industry, including retail, hospitality, office, residential, commercial and medical facilities.
  • 2020

Sama is actively helping defend against COVID-19 by using acrylic materials and expertise to create custom barriers and guards used by retailers, schools, medical facilities and other companies across the United States.
